The woeful lack of updates around here of late can be directly attributed to two things:

1. A quite absurd amount of work.
2. A general dissatisfaction with this site as a whole.

Seeing as how this is my business web site, and its sole purpose in life is to showcase my latest work and convince potential clients of my desirable skill-set and rapier wit, neither the lack of updates nor my distaste for the site are good things. The absurd amount of work is sort of good, but sometimes it doesn’t feel that way.

Affecting Change By Stealth

Any plans for a radical overhaul of this site would depend largely on me finding the time to do such a thing, which at the moment simply isn’t going to happen (see point 1, above). So that leaves me with two options:

1. Take the site down completely, which will theoretically hasten my work on it as I fret about not having a company web site.
2. Tweak and update the site incrementally, as and when I get the chance.

Option one simply doesn’t work. I know, because I tried it a couple of years back, and after a couple of months it just became plain embarassing.

Option two is exactly the sort of advice I give to clients who are dissatisfied with an apparently acceptable web site, so it’s probably about time I started applying the same level of care and consideration to my own site that I do to those of my clients.

The first few minor updates have already taken place. Expect more of the same.
